Regenerative Braking
These vehicles capture energy produced by the traction motors in the on-board batteries during braking operations (excess power is sent to resister grids), which can extend the daily operations before the batteries must be connected to external charging sources.
JackwalkerTM
Rerailing devices are deployed by the vehicle’s operator while inside the vehicle. A steel foot is hydraulically placed on the ground and lifts each end 8 inches from the top of the rail, a second hydraulic movement slews the unit left/right up to 10 inches. The operation is repeated until the unit is returned back on track.
