1918
Began installing flanged rail wheels on gasoline powered trucks to improve transportation efficiency in rural western PA, where railways were more developed than roads.
1919
Following WWI, BROOKVILLE began producing gas and diesel powered locomotives.
1942
Brookville Locomotive changes the name to Brookville Locomotive Works and moves the company to the Pickering Street Location.
1977
Dalph McNeil joins the company, becoming owner and president. While in the 1970s, the product advances to include all-welded steel frames and shaft drives.
1981
BROOKVILLE begins developing and manufacturing low-height diesel equipment for coal and hard rock mining; successfully introducing locomotives with planetary final drive axles.
1990
Brookville Locomotive Works changes its name to Brookville Mining Equipment Corporation (BMEC).
1998
After Pickering Street was destroyed by the 1996 flood, a new 72,000 sq. ft. production and office space opened.
1999
BROOKVILLE patents the JackwalkerTM and LiftwalkerTM.
2002
BROOKVILLE becomes among the first American manufacturer to contribute to the modernization of America’s 1950s streetcars.
2007
BROOKVILLE expands production facility, name changes to Brookville Equipment Corporation. CoGeneration was unveiled as BROOKVILLE’s newest locomotive.
2011
The first BL36PH Eagle Commuter Locomotive was ordered and was delivered in 2013.
2011
Brookville Services was founded at BROOKVILLE’s previous South Pickering Street location.
2012
High Bay Facility was constructed, adding 12,000 sq. ft., including wash bay, electrical shop, 15 ton cranes, underground inspection pit, and 100 ft. paint booth.
2015
BROOKVILLE delivers the first off-wire capable Liberty Streetcar to Dallas.
2015
BROOKVILLE was awarded Technical Innovation of the Year at the Global Light Rail Awards in 2015, later to be named Manufacturer of the Year in 2018.
2018
BROOKVILLE celebrates 100 years in business.
2022
BROOKVILLE delivers their 125th streetcar.
BROOKVILLE takes great pride in being able to support our local community, from youth basketball teams to the Jefferson County Fair to local high school leadership programs.
