Jason Jeffries has been selected as Brookville Equipment Corporation’s Employee of the Month for June.

Jason has been employed at Brookville Equipment Corporation for the past 20 years. He started out in our Co-Op program through Jeff Tech as a Fabrication Welder. After graduation, he was hired on full time to continue his role in Welding Fabrication.

As a Fabrication Welder, Jason’s main duties are to build smaller piece parts at our Pickering Street location. A lot of the larger welding fabrication items are done at the main facility located on Evans Street. Some of Jason’s job duties include, welding mining parts and some contracted manufacturing parts. He is known for his fast turnaround time. If the company is ever in a pinch and need to get something out the door quickly, Jason is our guy. Through his time at BROOKVILLE, he used to work at the Evans Street facility, where he fabricated larger parts for projects like South Florida Region Transit Authority (SFRTA) and Metro North Railroad.

Jason’s favorite type of equipment to work on is currently mining equipment. He really enjoys having diversity in what he is building and at BROOKVILLE, he gets just that. You never know what type of project we are going to be doing. More than likely, we have never done it before! This creates a learning curve for everyone involved, but Jason says, “That’s why I like working here. You never know what you are going to be doing and sometimes you have to figure it out as you go and I really enjoy that.” Jason said BROOKVILLE has taught him a lot of skills he has needed to complete his job and to earn himself the title of Employee of the Month. Through his Co-Op program at Jeff Tech, he learned a lot of useful skills, but once he got to BROOKVILLE, he was provided a more in depth on the job training that wasn’t included in his curriculum.

When Jason was asked, “How do you keep yourself motivated at work?,” he said “I really like to stay busy. I love getting a new project. If I am feeling unmotivated, getting a new project that you have to figure out how to tackle it, really improves my motivation.” With welding, Jason elaborated that you are always getting new parts to work on, it isn’t always the same part every day. Jason says, “One of the biggest challenges I have faced since my time at BROOKVILLE, is the level of equipment that we build. We have built some pretty challenging things, but we all stuck with it and got it done.” Jason also expressed with the level of complexity of our work being done at the company, you can’t always be taught at your school. With his extensive on the job training, he has been able to overcome those obstacles.

One of the most important lessons Jason has learned through his career is to not be afraid to ask questions. Jason says, “At BROOKVILLE, we are always working on different products and different markets. Some people you are working with haven’t made it before either, so everyone just needs to help each other figure it out.” Jason also expressed he loves what he does and the people he works with makes his experience at BROOKVILLE even better.

During his free time, Jason enjoys hunting and fishing, along with tinkering around with small chain saw engines.
