The distinction was accepted by BROOKVILLE CEO and Chairman Dalph McNeil at the black-tie event and marked the second year in a row the American manufacturer has been recognized at the Global Light Rail Awards. Last year, BROOKVILLE won ‘Technical Innovation of the Year’ for its Liberty Streetcar onboard energy storage system (OESS) developed for Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), which was the first off-wire capable streetcar route to operate within the United States.

“As the US urban streetcar revolution gathers pace, BROOKVILLE is rapidly becoming the partner of choice,” the Global Light Rail Award judges noted in recommending BROOKVILLE to earn the honor of ‘Highly Commended.’

BROOKVILLE’s entry for Manufacturer of the Year focused on the company’s history of evolution from a mining equipment manufacturing company that advanced into the heritage streetcar restoration market in the early 2000s before ultimately shipping its first modern, articulated, off-wire capable Liberty Streetcar in 2015. The company continues to support all three markets, in addition to producing surface locomotives.

BROOKVILLE is the only manufacturer in the United States that designs and manufactures modern streetcars domestically and has now delivered four Liberty Streetcars to Dallas and delivered its first of six vehicles to Detroit’s M-1 RAIL for the city’s QLINE, which will also be off-wire capable. In addition, BROOKVILLE has orders of six and five Liberty Streetcars for Oklahoma City and Milwaukee, respectively.
